Drive ShaftsThe drive shaft of a Jet Ski or PWC transfers power from the engine to the jet pump. The drive shaft typically connects to the PTO (power take off) coupler of the engine and then either directly into the impeller or to a impeller shaft coupler. The shafts are either made of stainless steel or a hardened carbon steel alloy. Sometimes they are made of both and friction welded together. Jet ski drive shafts fail or break for a number of reasons such as sucking up a ski rope or other object. This brings the jet ski engine to an abrupt stop and the inertia often snaps the drive shaft. The Watercraft Superstore replacement drive shafts are built to exacting standards to replace that worn, corroded, bent or broken drive shaft. A quick inspection of the splines and seal surfaces will tell you if it is time for a change. A bent drive shaft will cause vibration and prematurely wear out other components. We carry replacements for most popular models in stock and ready to ship incuding: |
